Packaging Applications
JVL integrated motors streamline packaging lines with fast format changeover, precise labeling, and reliable end-of-line palletizing — all without external drives or control cabinets.
Industry Challenges
Frequent Format Changes
Packaging lines handle dozens of SKUs daily. Motor-driven format adjustment eliminates manual changeover and reduces downtime to seconds.
Labeling Precision
Accurate label placement at high line speeds demands precise positioning and repeatable motion control on every cycle.
End-of-Line Palletizing
Reliable pick-and-place and stacking requires coordinated multi-axis motion with high torque at moderate speeds.
Hygienic Environments
Food and consumer goods packaging demands IP65+ protection and easy-clean motor surfaces to meet sanitary standards.

Why JVL for Packaging?
Multi-Protocol Flexibility
Switch between Profinet, EtherCAT, or EtherNet/IP without changing hardware — perfect for mixed-PLC packaging halls.
No Control Cabinet
Integrated motor + drive + controller mounts directly on the machine, freeing up panel space and reducing wiring.
Fast Commissioning
Pre-configured motion profiles and built-in PLC reduce time-to-production on new packaging lines.
IP65+ Options
Food-safe motor variants withstand wash-down cleaning cycles without degradation.
Winning Applications
Clothing production machine, used to fold and pack clothing. The JVL MIS232 motors replace 7 different motors in this machine: DC motors for folding, basic stepper motors in the elevator, and a servomotor for a linear belt drive — all replaced by one JVL motor type.
PTWon because JVL was able to replace all motors in the machine with one type, which in total saved cost. The cabinet for the machine could be significantly reduced. The end product was better and could be produced faster.
MIS232High-speed machines that scan, pack, seal, and print labels directly onto polyethylene bags. Two axes work in unison to feed and tension the bags off the main roll. Two additional axes prepare the bag for filling. ServoStep Closed-Loop on all axes provide excellent position and velocity control.
USElimination of control cabinets to house separate drives. Physical machine needs to be as small as possible to fit within existing assembly lines. Very limited space for additional control components and cabling.
ServoStepPrimary drive motor for roll of labels on pressure sensitive labeling machine. Motor feeds one label per product and matches conveyor speed so labels are always applied accurately. ServoStep for low speed machines, Servo motors for high speed.
USSave cost over separate motor and drive components. Reduced size of control cabinet.
ServoStep & ServoPaper roll cutting machine. Replaced the manual mode with a complete automatic solution (software and hardware).
ITNo cabling (wireless solution), cheaper than a fieldbus cabling solution. Reduced noise. Accuracy and speed up settings vs. manual startup.
MAC095Processing and packing for pharma/food/MedTech: application is for format change.
CHCompact integrated motors ideal for frequent format change applications.
MIS17/23Customer produces flexographic printing machines used mainly for the production of flexible packaging. The MIS341 motors manage accurate positioning and movement of printing rolls and material feed axes.
ITBuilt-in electronics reduce wiring complexity and enhance operational efficiency, ensuring precise control over position and torque. This level of precision is crucial for maintaining high print quality and consistency.
MIS341Customer produces advanced machinery for paper and tissue processing, including systems for the production and conversion of toilet paper, kitchen towels, and other paper products. The MAC140 motors are used for precise positioning of knives during the paper cutting process.
ITFast and accurate movements optimizing the cutting operation by positioning the blades correctly for uniform and high-quality cut. Precision and reliability enhance machine efficiency and productivity.
MAC140Used MIS23 & MIS34 motors to change the setup axis on packaging machines. The manual hand crank system could take up to 30 minutes to set and test. The MIS motors put the setup axis in position in less than 10 seconds.
USThey liked the decentralized design that allowed for a smaller control panel and easy changeout for less downtime.
